The Health Care Directive, the Living Will and the HIPAA release, Joan will delve into the importance of these medical directives and the alarming consequences families and loved ones face when these documents have not been prepared, or improperly prepared.

She will begin with briefly answering a short list of some common questions asked when someone contacts her regarding Estate planning:
  • What is a Revocable Living Trust?
  • What is the difference between a Last Will and Testament and a Trust?
  • Do I need a Trust or just a Will?
  • What is Probate?
  • What is a Living Will?
  • I have a Trust, Do I need to have it reviewed and/or updated? What are the costs?
Joan will present some examples of famous cases demonstrating the consequences of failing to draft proper planning documents; the nightmare of Probate court.

Also she will present material on the consequences of relying on “Do it Yourself” Wills and Trusts, and/or “Legal Zoom” or “EZ Legal” forms; they often fail, even when your intent is clear; your assets end up distributed in a fashion you did not want, and to those you did not intend to benefit.
